ABOUT THE DIOCESAN LIBRARY OF CREMONA

The library currently counts over 100.000 volumes, among modern and ancient editions, in phase of cataloguing. The ancient nucleus enumerates: 20 incunaboli, 1300 Cinquecentines, 1400 volumes of the seventeenth and 7000 volumes of the eighteenth century.

The library was open to public October 17 th, 2007.

It is base on two level: Ground Floor (the Consultation and Reading Room) and Upper Floor (the Ancient Material Room).

GROUND FLOOR

Entrance:

the library has its own entrance by the Seminary and another entrance from the outside (private parking). The entrance room has secure lockers for coats and personal property.

Reading room:

the room has 40 sit-down places (with lap-top facilities) and 2 computer places (intranet catalogue, internet resources). Handicapped access is available on the Seminary entrance.

The room has open shelf materials (dictionary, encyclopedia, thesaurus, some journals and periodicals, and other information materials).

Consultation room:

the room has a wide range of catholic religion books, some local history sections (Cremona and around) and letterature, philosophy and history sections.

This material is generally available to academics, seminarist, students of all levels, independent researchers and each other will be interested.

UPPER FLOOR

Ancient material room and deposit:

ancient collections require special permission before they may be consulted. Handicapped access is available.

Library-Loan:

library-loan is possible for academics, seminarist, students of all levels and independent researchers. Each other request will be sifted by the library staff.

Reproduction Services:

photocopy, photographic and digital scanning services are available (by the library staff) to the extent that physical condition, copyright restrictions, and equipment limitations permit. Reproduction and publication of ancient and special collections material is not allowed.
